Thank you for sharing this initiative—it’s such an important and powerful way to help reduce stigma and support others. Here are a few pointers to help you craft your personal story in a way that feels authentic and impactful. Some approaches you might consider:
- Start with Your “Why”
- Why do you want to share this story?
- What do you hope others will gain from hearing it?
- Structure Your Narrative
A simple structure could be:
- Introduction: Briefly describe who you are and the context of your experience.
- The Challenge: What stigma or situation did you face? How did it impact your life?
- The Turning Point: Was there a moment or realization that changed things for you?
- The Outcome: How are you doing now? What helped you cope or heal?
- Message of Hope: What would you say to someone going through something similar?
- Tone and Authenticity
- You can write in first person (“I”) for a personal feel.
- Be as open or as private as you feel comfortable—your story is yours.
